Microla Optoelectronics S.r.l.

Microla building

Microla Optoelectronics is an Italian SME and, a technical-industrial partner in photonics, founded in 2006 as a spin-off from the Politecnico di Torino.
Based in Chivasso (Turin), Microla develops bespoke technologies that help manufacturers improve or create new production processes.

Its offer combines engineering, prototyping, process development, equipment and technical support.

LASER & PROCESSES
Laser sources and marking systems; laser micromachining, including engraving, surface micro-texturing, micro-drilling and micro-cutting; laser welding of polymers;
process feasibility and optimization.

OPTICS & PHOTONICS
Custom optical design and systems, optical characterization, fiber and hollow-core optical guides, and opto-mechanical / opto-electronic prototyping.

ELECTRONICS & INTEGRATION
Custom analog and digital electronics, embedded control, firmware and software, sensors and drivers, legacy electronics redesign, and integration into automated production systems.

CORE COMPETENCIES
Microla’s distinguishing strength is its cross-disciplinary system integration: combining laser engineering, optics, electronics and,
where needed, mechanics to deliver customer-specific solutions. The company's capabilities span feasibility
studies, design and simulation, prototyping, experimental validation, process development, custom machine building and
after-sales technical assistance. Its laboratories support optical, electronic and laser testing; collaboration with universities and
research organizations support applied R&D.

MARKETS AND CUSTOMERS
The business is primarily B2B, serving manufacturers that need specialist laser processes, optoelectronic subsystems or custom
production equipment. Publicly identified application sectors include aerospace, automotive and mobile machinery, home
appliances, biomedical, energy and environment, rail, machine tools and robotics, food, print, marine and nanotechnology.
Typical use cases include product marking and traceability, precision material processing, polymer joining, surface
functionalization and integration of laser technology into production lines. Microla reports working with small, medium and large
companies in Italy and internationally; its published customer list includes industrial, energy, electronics and research organizations.

SELECTED EXAMPLES
The Laser-Ready integrated marking platform; OEM laser sources for marking, surface treatment and welding;
customer-designed laser processing systems; and custom electronic boards and devices. Published R&D; examples include
laser-assisted polymer manufacturing and biomedical microfabrication.
